BETTER THAN EVER!!!!
I recently fond myself in my old hometown and the friends I was with asked for a recommendation for dinner. All I could remember was the Venice Restaurant from my early years. I told them “to this day I have never had a pie as good as the ones that the Venice made.” Well I walked in and it was like the smell was exacty as it was 30 years ago!!!! Without hesitation I ordered the famous Venice pie, an antipasto salad and a beer on tap (Just what I would have ordered after a hard week at St. Peter’s College with my friends). My friends went the more traditional route with a Chicken Parm dinner and Stuffed Shells.
To say the food here gets better with age is an understatement. The pie was thin and the sauce was delicious. We all sampled the hot dishes and shared the antipasto. Everything was great. The secret to great Italian dishes is the sauce (or the gravy as my Grama would call it). You can’t make food like this without the perfect sauce and believe me the Venice is still using the same great ingredients and keeping it simple. All this adds to the memories that you have of the place as a kid. Friday nights my Mom would call the Venice and I would walk the three blocks to pick up two large pies and a salad.
This is an old family restaurant that only the locals really know about and now I shared it with friends…old and new!!! Try it and you won’t be disappointed. Great service, nice ambiance but parking is still a nightmare. Some things never change and thank goodness one of them is The Venice in Bayonne, NJ.

We visited The Venice on Saturday to see Kenny Vance and the Planotones. Our dinner was remarkable and the service was excellent. The show was fantastic, it is nice to see a small family restaurant offering such fine entertainment. I can't wait to visit The Venice again. Thank you for a wonderful night. Helen

We traveled from Long Island on Saturday to see Kenny Vance and the Planotones. As always the show was great. We just wanted to add that the food at the Venice was delicious, everyone at our table chose a different entree, which we all tasted. From the salad to the desserts it was a very enjoyable meal and if we are ever in Bayonne again we will make certain to go back to the Venice. Also, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Wow...it has been a very long time since I was at The Venice and last Wednesday I just happen to stop by. The place looks great and the food well, I have to say the specials took me by surprise. They had a polish dish that my Mother use to make and it was out of this world. It was to my understanding that the owner himself whipped up these dishes. I noticed a meatloaf dinner with mounds of homemade mashed potatoes piled on the plate being enjoyed by several people at the bar. When I read the specials board I saw a huge variety of homemade dishes, what a few people around me called comfort food. I will be sure to make The Venice my dining choice the next time I am in town... I also took one of their famous thin pies to go, it was delicious just like the old days. It was a nice night and the people there are very friendly.

I planned a small get together for some friends who have not seen each other in a while. We all enjoyed the thin pie and chopped salad along with a bunch of other starters. The food was delicious and so fresh. It has been a long time since my last visit to this restaurant, but I will sure be back again very soon. I was really excited to see an outside area for dining and drinks. Once the weather starts warming up I am sure I will make the Venice a regular stop. Thanks to our little waitress Maria for being so helpful. We all enjoyed our night out. Thanks Venice you made our night a very pleasant one.

Friday night a group of friends decided to get together for dinner. We did not have a specific restaurant picked out in advance so we agreed to meet at The Venice for a drink and decide once we were all together. Well, to my surprise The Venice has gone through a transformation that I could not believe. It has been about 6 years since I was there and I am so excited I decided to go that night. We all agreed to dine there once we saw the specials. Seafood galore. We all enjoyed our night and we are happy and thankful that our old hang out is back in the swing of things. The outside is beautiful, the food was excellent, the only downfall was that we had a crazy waitress, but it did make our night entertaining. LOVE THE VENICE AND WE WILL BE BACK !!!!! THE PIZZA IS OUTRAGEOUS
